Temple of Gampingan is located at Dusun Gampingan, Piyungan, Bantul. In this area, there are seven temple made of white stone. One of them is 4,64 x 4,65 meter, and predicted as the main temple. Unfortunately, the temple is left only its ruins in the form of eight level of stones 1,2 meter high and the condition of the other six temples are only ruins.
In the main temple, there are three arca of Dhyani Buddha Vairocana and bronze, arca of Jambhala and arca of Candralokesvara from andesit stone, a fragment of arca from ceramics, eight miniatures of gold artefacts and a gold ring, also some fragments from gerabah. Based on these findings of arca, it is predictied that Temple of Gampingan is a Buddhish temple which placed the God of Jambhala as the main god, whilst arca of Candralokesvara which was found at the same time with Jambhala shows that there is Tantraism in Buddha Mahayana.
Recently, written data about the establishment of the temple is not yet found, thus the age of the temple is relatively based on the art of the architecture and the artefacts which show a characteristic from IX Masehi.
