HISTORY

Initially, it was "Suryo Agung", 2 buildings in the southward of Beringharjo market and a clothe store in Beringharjo market, Yogyakarta in 1965, the leader of Gardena wanted to expand his bussiness by opening Vinolia store on Urip Sumoharjo No. 37 C in 1973.

It was finally built on June 03, 1983 with the name Gardena, from the word Gardenia, a flower with good smell. On January 21,

1984, Gardena Department Store & Supermarket was officially opened by Sri Paduka Paku Alam VIII, the vice Governor of DIY at that time. Suppported with 390 workers, Gardena stood in about 6.000 m2 with status (Perusahaan Terbatas) PT Gardena Graha. On May 15, 1998, It established its first branch on jl. A. Yani No. 10 Magelang.
