SMA Bopkri 3 Yogyakarta does the educational activity since 1979. It was held in the afternoon (13.00-18.00 WIB) until era of 1990s, the school which is located on Jl. Kapten P. Tendean No. 55 performs the activity during 07.00-13.30 WIB, as well as the other senior high schools.

SMA Bopkri 3 Yogyakarta had been in the top of its performance as an educational institution which was needed by many students before 1990. At that moment, schools held in the afternoon were good alternatives for students who worked in the morning.

Recent days, SMA Bopkri 3 Yogyakarta still performs its educational institution with maintaining 4 (four) classrooms; for level 1 and 2 get one classroom each and there are two classrooms for level 3 (IPA and IPS).
