PRO - Produktif Profesional (Productive– Profesional),
It means that all the local potential of both Natural Resources and Human resources can be productive, so it can take part in the local development. And it should be professional; meaning that people from various professions should be ready and skilled in their own field. The parameter of professionalism can be indicated from their performance relevant to the budget application, equipment, energy and time needed to complete the performance.
 
IJO ROYO-ROYO (Green),
It means that no space without plants; there is no ignored land both in the dry season and in the wet one. Everywhere will be shady. It is necessary to remind all people that Bantul has growth early as a potential agronomy area in supporting the development of forceful industrial sector in the future.
 
TA - Tertib (Order),
It means that every society consciously make use of right and obligation well, so it will bring about a good government and society life. All of them would be guided by Law/regulation to create National Order.
 
TAMAN - Aman (Save),
It means that the realization of orderly government and society life will be helpful the realization of tranquility and safety in public. This save condition should be supported to keep Local Stability.

SA - Sehat (Healthy),
It means that the order of environment will ensure both the physical health and spiritual one for society/humans living in the environment.

RI - Asri (Beautiful),
It means an effort to manage the setting either in rural or in city harmonious, and balanced to the activities of people living in it, so it will improve the feeling at home, being beautiful is not necessary to be luxurious but it is inclined to take an advantage of the environment potential on the basis of human creativity.

Bantul will always be coherent with Yogyakarta as the struggle-city and generally, as the history of Indonesian’s struggle. Bantul Regency keeps a lot of heroic stories. Those are Prince Mangkubumi’s fighting at Ambar Ketawang, Sultan Agung’s defense at Pleret, Prince Diponegoro’s Struggle at Selarong. The heroic story is also added with Indonesian Flight Pioneer, Adisucipto which his plane was shot by Dutch colonial at Ngoto village, Guerilla War fought against Dutch Colonial that was lead by General Sudirman (1948) that moved more in Bantul area. This area was as the basic of “Serangan Oemoem 1 Maret”, which was pioneered by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX.

The culmination of regional forming of Bantul Regency is Prince Diponegoro’s fought against colonial, which had headquarters at Selarong during 1825 – 1830. After stopping Diponegoro’s fought, Dutch colonial formed special commission to arrange Vortenlanden region which duty to handle regional government of Mataram, Pajang, Sokawati and Gunung Kidul. Surakarta and Yogyakarta sultanate was done, either regional division, war cost payment, rebellion leader cession or administrative area forming.

At 26 and 31 March 1831, Dutch and Yogyakarta Sultanate held mutual agreement contract of new administrative regional division with functionary decision for each head of regions. At that time, Yogyakarta Sultanate was divided into three regencies, those are Bantulkarang for south area, Denggung for North area and Kalasan for East area.

Concerning of a new regional division of Yogyakarta Sultanate on 20 July 1831 or at Rabu Kliwon 10 Sapar year of Dal 1759 (Javanese’s day, month and year), it was openly decided the forming of Bantul Regency, which was known well as Bantulkarang. A Nayaka (Javanese means Sultanate’s relative) of Yogyakarta Sultanate, name Raden Tumenggung Mangun Negoro was appointed by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono V to be Bantul Regent.

This date of 20 July is then commemorated as Bantul Regency’s Anniversary. Besides, the date of 20 July has also heroic symbol value and sacredness for people of Bantul in commemorating Diponegoro's war, which took place on 20 July 1825.

At Japan occupation day, government was based on Usamu Seirei Number 13, and Stadsgemente ordonantie was disregarded. The regency had right to arrange its-own household management (autonomy).

After the Independence Day, government was handled by Local National Committee to perform Number 1, 1945 Law. But, that law was not performed both in Yogyakarta and Surakarta, up to Local Government Law Number 22, 1948 was prevailed, and regard to Number 15, 1950 Law, which contents of Autonomy Local Government forming in entire Indonesia.

Going together with Unity Nation of Republic of Indonesia’s progress and national leader changes, Bantul Regency has had great progress in every sector under the leader of Drs. HM. Idham Samawi who had been appointed since last 1999.
