Traditional ceremony of Rasulan Tambakromo is held by the society of Tambakromo Village, Ponjong as their thankfulness to the Almighty for giving enough harvest for the farmers during the whole year. On Wednesday (Rabu Wage), peasants of Tambakromo begins the ceremony with cleansing the cemetery, and the sacred places such as Sumber Lanang and Sumber Dola at once. Based on local beliefs, Sumber Dola is dwelled by the spirit of Nyai Gadung Mlati and Sumur Lanang by Kyai Murwojoyo. However, the ceremony is culminated at the meeting house of Jimbaran and in the night there will be a shadow puppet show for the public.
A series of traditional offering for Sumber Dola is as follows:
- Nasi Ambeng, that is rice with serving dish, oseng–oseng, gudheg, tempe, tofu,
etc, for the ancestors of Tambakromo,
- Nasi Golong, that is ball-shaped rice as the unity of willpower,
- Jenang Bakul, that is rice given sugar and coconut,
- Kembang Boreh, that is rice powder with fragrant herbs for Nyai Gadung Mlati,
- Sekapur Sirih, that is suruh and gambir, apu, kinang, tobacco for Nyai Gadung
Mlati,
- Kolak of raw meat or heart on sujen, for Nyai Gadung Mlati to take care of
society of Jimbaran.
Besides, there are also another offerings, such as:
- Jadah, from dari ketan rice-flour mixed with scrapings of coconut until it
becomes soft and sticky, as a symbol of togetherness, unbreakable society,
- Tumpak, from ketan rice-flour mixed with scrapings of coconut and coconut sugar,
as a symbol of happiness,
- Bunga Rasulan, such as rose, jasmine, kenanga, as a symbol of purity of the
wishes,
- Pisang Raja, that is banana as a symbol of hope of glory,
- Kemenyan, as a vehicle of the wishes,
- Money, as a symbol of thankfulness,
- Panjang Ilang, that is a basket made of coconut yellow leaves, consists of
ambeng rice, golong rice, jenang bakul, kembang boreh, sirih, kolak, jadah, tumpak,
banana and money.
For the traditional communal praying (kenduri), people of Tambakromo prepare:
- Nasi Ambeng with serving dish, rice packed with banana leaves folded on both
tips (penak), each family brings 7–12 packets of nasi ambeng,
- Tumpeng, that is cone-shaped rice symbolizing the hope to the Almighty,
- Nasi Gurih, that is rice poured by santan, salt and salam leaves which creates
crispy taste as a symbol of salvation,
- Ingkung, a complete cooked-chicken, symbolizing surrenderness of the people
to the Almighty,
- Jadah, umpak, gula jawa, pisang raja, and kembang boreh, also
- Jajan Pasar, from various kinds of snacks from the local traditional market
as a symbol of hope of successfulness in farming.
For the Earth, there is a special servings from the leader of the village. It
is similar to the previous offerings, with additional items especially for the
puppeteer, as follows:
- A comb, suri and mirror as a symbol of make-up,
- Polo kependem, that is the harvest such as uwi, gembili, kimpul, ketela pohon,
etc as their gratefulness to the ancestors who have given abundant of harvest,
- Coconut and rice, for the ancestors who have given abundant of harvest,
- Gagar Mayang, made of several kinds of leaves, such as apa–apa, alang–alang,
kluwih, dhadhap serep, beringin, andhong, tebu, etc, as the symbol of glory and
wealthy,
- Jenang Baro–baro, that is porridge of bekatul with coconut sugar on its surface
as a respect to the ancestors,
- Panjang Ilang, that is the water of coconut.
