It is done to manifest the expression of thank God as the showering victuals because they have a great harvest. Besides, it is also done to pray prophet of Mohammed and their ancestors include Sunan Geseng so they will always be given God's protection.
When Sunan Geseng lived, Jolosutro people always did rasulan ceremony after paddy harvest every year. A lot of guests came, including from Palace of Yogyakarta. To serve guest from the palace in every ceremony, they always served ketupat and its side dishes. However the ketupat was unusual. Ketupat of Jolosutro was wrapped by gebang leaf and it was bigger, 15 x 15 centimeters up to 356 x 35 centimeters. The cooking way was also differ to other usual ketupat cooking. Its side dishes was gudheg manggar. The ketupat rasulan has become special meal on rasulan ceremony at Jolosutro up till now.
Kupatan Ceremony of Jolosutro is done after paddy harvest, on Monday of Legin in month of Sapar. It is at Jolosutro, Srimulyo village, Piyungan, Bantul. It is exactly at Sunan Geseng's tomb. Harvest time always changes. It makes the ceremony time also changes, but the most important thing is, it is not done on day of Pon. The date is from 10 to 15, based on Javanese?s calendar when the full moon appears. The top of ceremony is done during 02.00 to 04.00 p.m. West Indonesia Time.
At Monday of Legi, after dhuhur praying time, jodhangs, which contents of kenduri offerings from several neighborhoods at Jolosutro sub village, are brought together at Jolosutro square. After the preparation is ready, all jodhangs are brought to the ceremony place at Sunan Geseng's tomb, accompanied with Jathilan (local arts). At 02.00 p.m. the ceremony was started with head of Srimulyo village and Piyungan sub district speech. The main program was started with pledge reading, read by Sunan Geseng's tomb keeper. It was then followed by praying, lead by old person and closed by together meal eating from offerings, which were offered, comprised of rice of ameng, luscious rice and side dishes and also garden productions, market foods, rengginan and enten-enten.
