Hindu's People of Special Region of Yogyakarta routinely do the ritual ceremony once a year. This is done in welcoming Nyepi day. The goal of this ceremony is to consecrate themselves. The procession is started at 12.30 PM from Agung Jagatnata temple, Sorowajan, Banguntapan, Bantul. It is then followed with holy water taking from 7 water resources, which one of those is from Parangtritis beach. It is done before Nyepi day at Samas or Parangkusumo beach.
According to Hinduism, Melasti is "nganyudang malaning gumi ngamet Tirta Amerta" which means "drifting natural dirties by using life water". Sea is as symbol of Tirtha Amertha source (god of Rucci, Mandaragiri turning). This rite is done as late as at tilem sore, this ceremony must have finished entirely, and the pratima (person) who is consecrated must have been at bale agung (great hall).
Melasti Rite is completed by various offerings, either Javaneese?s special offerings or Balinese's special offerings. The offerings are as symbol of Trimurti, 3 gods in Hinduism. Those are god of Wishnu, Syiwa and Brahma. The symbol of god of Brahma's throne, Jumpana, is also brought in that convoy.
