Cipto Subali, whose father, Dipo Pawiro, was a master of puppet, and mother, Saniyem, was a dancer, had been learning to be a master of puppet and dancer since fourth grade of SR (in 1940s). He also learned art of puppetry and dance from Sunarko and Widi Prayitno. However he admired most Ki Narto Sabdo.

He created a dance of Sendratari Ramayana who told about the beginning of Kiskendo Cave; Bubrah Kawah Darsini, this traditional celebration was similar to Ruwatan which was held only when a family accepted a proposal for their first daughter.

Ruwatan Gadon was held for public and free of charge, and only used a set of shadow puppets and gamelan, but the puppets were not played; just for symbols. He learned this ceremony from Romo Subari. Ki Cipto Subali could be claimed as the pioneer of Ruwatan Gadon.

His achievement was Juara Dua Lomba Goro-Goro Kamtibnas (1987). In 2003, Ki Cipto Subali also received an award from Bupati Kulon Progo as Penjaga Seni Tradis Rakyat, an artist, and local art instrutctor of kethoprak, shadow puppets and Golek dance.
