World of art had been a part of Diyan Soegiyono's life who often followed his father in master of puppet show since his childhood. On his fourth grade of Sekolah Rakyat Diyan skipped from school to see his father performances. Even his father was a puppet master, Ki Imamdiharjo did not want Diyan to be a puppet master.

Graduated from PGAP he was sent to Pondok Pesantren Kudus and PGA in order to eliminate his interest to art. However art had been running in his blood therefore he kept learning and enjoying art. Mantyo, one of his mentor in Konservatori Karawitan Surakarta was his guide in art.

Then Diyan learned seriously about Karawitan since he worked at Departemen Agama Gunung Kidul 1957. Since then he performed his abilities anywhere until he was appointed as an additional teacher at art of Karawitan SGA, SMA Wonosari, and also helped KRT Wasitodiningrat to compose traditional songs for Monosuko RRI.

Center of Karawitan Pranama cabang Gunung Kidul was one of his own venue, also he taught Waranggana at Yayasan Widya Lestari Budaya Jakarta. Besides he also spoke for art of Karawitan in several seminars.

Some of his masterpieces in traditional songs were songs for karawitan performance in 1987 at Sekretariat Negara Jakarta; music background of MTQ; and a thesis of Guidance to Sindhenan as a text book of Pusat Olah Vokal Waranggana Gunung Kidul. His hard work in art was given an art award by the local government of DIY.
