Bagong Kusudiardjo was born in Yogyakarta, Oktober 9, 1928 and known as a controvesial person in the world of art in Yogyakarta, particularly in performing art. As well as his grand father HB VII, he disagreed to his environtment and then brought him to the process of art. He is an inovative person. He always wanted to break the tradition by creating new work of art.

Learning from his brother, Kuswadji Kawindrosusanto and GPH Tedjokusumo in the house of Tedjokusuman in 1946. In the same year, he began to learn painting to Hendra Gunawan and Sudiarja. He was known joined in Pelukis Rakyat. Four years later, knowing that Pelukis

Rakyat was under Lekra, he then leave it and established Pelukis Indonesia. Here he improved him self. in 1953, for the first time he went abroad because of his ability in art. A year later, breaking through thetradition, he created "Layang-layang", and established the performing center Bagong Kusudiardjo. Many criticisms were addressed to him for breaking the clasic performing of Java.

In this place, born hundreds of performing and some fragmens and ballet.The balet of The born of Christ and his ressurection was one his fragmens that shocked the worl of art in Yogyakarta.
