Joko Sulistiono claimed to miss his style in painting when he studied at ISI 1990. Because he absorbed too many information as a reference in artworking. However his skill in painting gave him a path to exist in art world within his realist artworks as his previous works until graduated from ISI 2000. Once he lost his artworks somehow and never returned. He often has his exhibition held at the same time of installation and painting.

Some of his exhibitions are as follows: Pameran Kecil Itu Indah at Edwin Gallery; Pameran Bersama at KOONG Gallery Jakarta; at Kedai Kebun Forum Yogyakarta; Bazart FKY; at One Gallery; Java Fundamental at Jenggala Gallery. Also his own exhibition such as "Sesak" at Aikon Yogyakarta, "Sampah" at Dria Manunggal Yogyakarta, at Mata Gallery Bali. Joko was categorized in the big five of Philip Morris Indonesia in 2000.
