Adi Sampar works as an artist of kethoprak, a traditional stage art performance; he mainly performed the comedy scenes. Besides kethoprak, he also played in art of jathilan (a traditional dance using horse made of bamboo), karawitan (a traditional band of music), and shadow puppet art. In 1973 he started to play as comedian and going everywhere to make entertainment. In 1978 he established his own group of Grup Keluarga Tuntum-Tuntum which contained his own brothers and sisters.

Sampar learned the knowledge and skill in comedy by self-taught. There was no particular educational institution or background to strengthen such a field of art. He followed the need of entertainment among his various audience. Even his formal education was only in secondary school, moreover he was not graduated.

He achieved several awards as Juara Pertama Lomba Kethoprak Tingkat Kecamatan (1985), Juara Kedua Lomba Kethoprak Tingkat Kabupaten (1985), and Juara Dua Festival Pertunjukan Rakyat DIY (1982).
