Adrianus Heru Kesawa Murti, an artist born in Yogyakarta, August 1957, was really born from the blood of great artists in Yogyakarta. His father, Handung Kussudyarsana, was a kethoprak player and drama script writer, his uncle, Bagong Kussudiardja, was the most famous coreographer in Indonesia. Therefore his skill and talent in art had been well-improved. He was once studying at ASRI and Fakultas Filsafat UGM, but both were not completed.

In 1983, with Butet Kertarejasa, Djaduk Ferianto, Susilo Nugroho, Sepnu Heryanto, and Jujuk Prabowo, he established Theater of Gandrik. In this group, his creativity was totally showed using all of his scripts. Since junior high, Heru had been publishing his artworks in poetry and short stories. He wrote his drama script in SMSR, such as "Tuan Residen" and "Orang-orang Terasing" (presented on TVRI Yogyakarta 1980).
