Since childhood, Agustina Ponijah loved this traditional stage performace, kethoprak. In her neighborhood, there were so many art stage performaces like people puppet show (wayang wong) and kethoprak. Because of her serious interest in art of kethoprak, she joined in a local kethoprak group from her village. People said that Ponijah dropped her school in grade five of Secondary School for her talent and skill in kethoprak.

Her journey as a kethoprak player brought this woman, born in Bantul, August 17 1948, to various of groups of kethoprak such as Krido Mudho Widodo, Irama Masa, Budi Rahayu, Sapta Mandala, et cetera. In 1983 he joined in Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Yogyakarta as kethoprak player and was retired in 2004.

Her kareer was fully supported by her husband, Ignasius Wahono, who was also well-know as a kethoprak player. Even more, her art activities brought her to several movies and soap opera shows, for instance, in production of the movie of Pangeran Diponegoro.
