There are many well-known speirs in the tradition of Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat with their variety in shape. Some are known with three sharp eyes, or like a "kudi", cakra, and also in a conventional shape. Amongst the famous sacred weapons, there is Kangjeng Kyai Ageng Plered which has been in the royal environment since the era of Panembahan Senopati.

Here are some kinds of speir which has been recognized in the tradition of Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, as follows:
a. Tumbak, a long weapon made of steel on its top, more or less 2 meter in length
b. Tumbak Larakan, a long weapon more or less 2,5 - 3 meter
c. Talempak, a short speir, 1,5 meter in length
d. Trisula, a long speir with three sharp eyes
e. Canggah, a long speir (3 meter) with two sharp eyes
f. Lawung, a dull speir for war training purpose only
