Gondhangkasih is a term of "gantal" which is hold by the bridegroom in his right hand and it would be thrown away to the bride in the event of "balangan gantal" (gantal throwing) in the ceremony of panggih (when the bride and the bridegroom meet).

Gantal on the right hand of the bride which would be also thrown away to the bridegroom in the same ceremony, is called as Gondhangtutur.

Gondhangkasih also refers to two brothers or sisters who have differences in physical condition. For instance the one would have bright skin but the other brother/sister would be in a dark skin. It is like in the characters of Purwa shadow puppet; Kakasrana and Narayana.
